Known for experimenting with the myriad possibilities of visual language mediums - including painting, sculpture, graphic arts and design - his work displays a unique talent for combining both contemporary artistic ideals and traditional Indian themes. Magnificently illustrated with over 900 full-colour and black & white images, this two-volume set offers an unrivalled overview of Ramachandran's entire oeuvre, which has spanned four decades. He designed the granite bas-relief sculpture at the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, Tamilnadu, which completed in 2003. It extends for 125 feet and has a height of nearly 20 feet.
