One Night @ The Call Centre (Hindi) is a narrative told by an author who learns of this story from a fellow passenger, during a train journey from Kanpur to Delhi.

The story revolves around the lives of six people working a shift at a call centre. Shyam Mehra is one of the main characters of the story. He is depicted as a simple boy who is confused about his life. Shyam is agonized by his affections for Priyanka, who is engaged to another. Shyam is also quite upset with his boss whom he feels has cheated him.

Varun is the second employee working at the call centre. He is not too keen at working there. Priyanka is next and she is being forced by her mother to marry NRI Ganesh, whom she doesn’t care for. Esha Singh is an ambitious, would-be model. Her dream of pursuing a career in modeling is thwarted when she is told that she is not suited for modeling. Then there is Radhika, an unhappily married woman who is at war with her mother-in-law. Finally, there is Military Uncle, a fellow who leads a solitary life. He yearns to see his grandson but becomes quite upset when one day his grandson requests him to stop contacting him.

The mundaneness of each of these six employees’ lives is forever shaken when almighty God telephones them. This forces the six employees to change how they perceive their problems and deal with their issues in a productive manner. Against the backdrop of the call center and armed with a new frame of mind, the six employees tackle their issues.
